The Storehouse

The Josephs Storehouse Christian Ministries and Training Centre, an Alberta registered society since 2002, has as one of its mandates "to meet the needs of the homeless and disadvantaged in the city of Edmonton".  Its first project to address this, is the establishment of a supply distribution outlet, which is in effect a 'storehouse' of accumulated supplies that will be made available to other charitable interests in Edmonton such as soup kitchens, food banks, shelters and special events that cater to its mandated group.

At this time, late March 2005, we are in the process of seeking donations to stock the 'storehouse'.  Unlike other Edmonton programs that offer assistance to the homeless and disadvantaged, the Storehouse will not be a walk-in location for individuals to look for needed supplies.  Rather, the Storehouse will contain bulk and stockpiled items, carefully inventoried and controlled, that other groups can call upon to replenish their inventory so as to continue their programs.

Supplies needed to stock the 'storehouse' include, but are not limited to:

  • furniture
  • household items [examples: dishes, pots, pans, utensils, silverware, dish towels, dish cloths]
  • household cleaning supplies [examples: dish soap, disinfectant, brooms, dustpans, mops, mop pails]
  • non-perishable food items
  • perishable food items
  • personal hygiene products
  • bedding
  • towels

If you can help, please contact Pastor Edith Pearson at (780) 486-1089.  Charitable tax receipts can be issued; as well all donors will be recognized throughout various conferences hosted by the Josephs Storehouse Christian Ministries [JSCM] and also be acknowledged in publications that are produced by JSCM.

Food For A Day

In keeping with its mandate, the Josephs Storehouse Christian Ministries, began its 'Food For a Day' program which commenced on Monday, March 7, 2005.  A hot meal was prepared by volunteers in the JSCM kitchens and served to those in need in the west Edmonton area.  Food items, serving warmers and location were donated.

The 'Food For a Day' service will be held every Monday from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm at the Centennial Bottle Depot parking lot, 10036 - 168th Street.  This location will suffice until a more permanent serving area is secured.

Ongoing support through donations of perishable and non-perishable food items would be greatly appreciated.  Please contact Pastor Edith Pearson, (780) 486-1089.
